It all began in 1995, with one idea, four people, and five chairs.
Back then, few believed that paper could become digital.
But we did, and that belief became the foundation of WebLager.

Dansk Scanning is founded
Dansk Scanning was founded with a simple but ambitious goal:
To preserve history through digital innovation.
What began as a small Danish company quickly became a pioneer in digital transformation, helping organizations protect and access their archives in new ways.

1996 - 2003
From Local to National
Our first large-scale projects began with the scanning of technical archives for Odense Municipality, Maersk Oil, and Copenhagen Airport, more than 47,000 large-format drawings.
In 2002, the first municipalities, Assens and Herlev, joined WebLager, creating Denmark’s first two digital building case archives and marking the start of a new digital era.

2006 - 2008
National Transformation
Dansk Scanning won a nationwide project for the Danish Court Administration, digitizing land registration records, marriage deeds, and property books, along with a web-based system for daily operations.
In 2007, we also moved to larger offices on Lillebæltsvej 33 to support our growing team and projects.

2010 - 2013
Expanding Across Europe
We took our first steps abroad with WebLager Norway (Elverum Municipality) and WebLager Germany (Kronshagen Municipality).
At the same time, we digitized the EU’s central archives with over 10,300,000 documents and led the DIADEM project, collecting data on oil tanks across 51 municipalities.
This was the start of WebLager’s international journey.

2013 - 2016
Growth and Innovation
We completed major projects for the Danish Geodata Agency and the City of Aalborg, including Denmark’s largest digital building archive.
As the company grew, we moved into a new home on Skagerrakvej, a space built for collaboration, ideas, and growth.

2018 - 2024
Scaling Up in Europe
We digitized 100 pallets of Maersk Oil documentation ( 18,428 binders in total) and scanned materials for Norway’s National Archives, including documents from the Office of the Prime Minister.
In 2020, we opened new production sites in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) and later in Trondheim (Norway). Our presence in Germany grew stronger.

A New Chapter - Now as WebLager A/S
We celebrate 30 years of innovation with a new company name: WebLager®.
As we enter this new era, we strengthen our commitment to sustainability through our Climate Partnership with Esbjerg Municipality.
