• Work in a structured and detail-oriented manner
• Take responsibility and follow tasks through to completion
• Want to build and improve processes

WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU
Full-time · Onsite (2 days remote/week)
Senior Backend Engineer
- Esbjerg, Denmark
- May 6, 2026
ABOUT THE ROLE
Weblager is one of Scandinavia’s leading platforms for digital archiving and scanning — with over 30 years of experience, 100 employees across 5 countries, and a technical platform handling close to 10 petabytes of data on our own datacenters.
We’re a company in rapid growth, and the next few years are only going to get wilder.
We’re looking for a full-time Senior Backend Engineer to join our team. You’ll build scalable systems with Java, work with messaging and backend infrastructure, and help develop reliable, well-structured solutions in a collaborative environment.
You’ll join a young, ambitious team with strong bonds and great experiences. As a senior, we also expect you to help elevate the other developers and juniors on the team — both technically and professionally.
The role is onsite in Esbjerg with 2 days remote per week.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Backend development
Design, develop, and maintain backend services in our Java and Spring Framework-based microservice architecture. Write clean, testable code that performs in production.
Architecture & system design
Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape how we build and scale our systems going forward.
Mentoring & support
Help developers and juniors with technical challenges, code reviews, and professional growth. Be the go-to person when the team gets stuck.
Kubernetes & infrastructure
Work closely with our Kubernetes platform — deploying, monitoring, and optimizing services across three clusters (internal, preprod, production).
Performance & scaling
Optimize systems for increasing load as we grow — including handling large data volumes and high throughput.
WHAT YOU BRING
• Solid experience with Java and Spring Framework
• Experience with Elasticsearch
• Experience with microservice architecture in production
• Understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native development
• Experience with databases, messaging, and API design
• Ability to elevate others — you enjoy helping colleagues with technical challenges
• A drive to solve complex technical problems
• Independent but thrive in a team setting
What matters most isn’t that you tick every box — but that you have a genuine drive to build and improve systems. If you’ve got the right attitude, we want to hear from you.
WHAT WE OFFER
Real technical depth
You’ll work with a platform handling close to 10 PB of data on our own datacenters with ~100 physical servers. This isn’t standard CRUD — it’s real engineering.
A rocket ship you can jump on
We’re growing fast and only plan to grow more. AI workloads, international expansion, and increased capacity — you’ll help shape all of it.
Young team with strong bonds
We’re a tight, young crew that hangs out both in and outside the office. Team trips, shared dinners, and great experiences are part of the deal.
Competitive salary & pension
Attractive compensation package with 8%+ company-paid pension and a performance-based bonus scheme.
Education budget
We invest in your growth — you get an annual education budget for conferences, courses, and workshops.
Flexibility
Onsite in Esbjerg with 2 days remote per week. We believe in being together — but also that you need focused time.
Ready to build with us?
We’re not looking for the perfect application — we’re looking for the right person. Send your CV and application to fo@weblager.dk — or even better, send us a short video telling us who you are and what drives you.

Full-time
Head of Infrastructure
- Esbjerg, Denmark
- May 6, 2026
ABOUT THE ROLE
Weblager is one of Scandinavia’s leading platforms for digital archiving and scanning.
We operate our own physical datacenters with an infrastructure few companies can match — close to 10 petabytes of storage, ~100 physical servers, three dedicated Kubernetes clusters, and a network built on zero-trust principles. All powered by our own renewable energy.
We’re a company in rapid growth, and the next few years will bring even more. AI workloads are becoming increasingly central, overall load is rising with our customer base, and in time we’ll be setting up datacenters in other countries. In short: we need someone with the drive to take our IT infrastructure into the future.
Are you the type who’s passionate about physical infrastructure and has hands-on experience working in and with real datacenters — not just cloud consoles? Then keep reading. We’re looking for someone with a natural drive to make things better, faster, and more scalable.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Datacenter operations & maintenance
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of our physical datacenter infrastructure in Esbjerg — servers, storage, networking, and cooling. Ensure uptime, performance, and capacity as we grow.
Infrastructure strategy & scaling
Help define and execute our infrastructure strategy — from capacity planning and hardware selection to architecture decisions that support growth.
AI & future workloads
Prepare and adapt our infrastructure for increasing AI workloads. Think GPU compute, storage throughput, and the demands that next-generation solutions will place on hardware.
Networking & security
Maintain and evolve our Juniper-based zero-trust network, FortiGate firewall cluster, and redundant internet connections.
International expansion
Over time, help plan and establish datacenters in other countries as Weblager expands internationally.
Storage & backup
Manage and optimize our ZFS-based storage platform at close to 10 PB — ensuring data integrity, resilience, and scalability.
WHAT YOU BRING
• Hands-on datacenter experience — you’ve been in the server room, not just watching dashboards
• A drive to build the IT solutions of the future
• Understanding of networking, storage, virtualization, and/or Kubernetes
• Interest in AI infrastructure and what it demands from hardware
• Independent and driven — you take ownership
• Experience with Linux, ZFS, or similar is a big plus
You don’t need to know everything from day one. If you have a solid technical background and a genuine drive to learn and build — we want to hear from you. What matters most is your attitude and commitment.
WHAT WE OFFER
World-class infrastructure
You’ll be responsible for a serious datacenter platform — ~100 servers, 10 PB storage, Kubernetes clusters, and a zero-trust network. This is not a standard IT ops job.
A rocket ship you can jump on
We’re growing fast and only plan to grow more. AI, international expansion, and increased capacity — you’ll help shape all of it.
Sustainability in our DNA
100% renewable energy from our own wind turbines, ISO-certified and Climate Partner in Esbjerg. We mean it.
Ready to build the infrastructure of the future?
We’re not looking for the perfect application — we’re looking for the right person. Send your CV and application to fo@weblager.dk — or even better, send us a short video telling us who you are and what drives you. Show us your drive.
